In response to high electricity costs, the Fresno city council is evaluating energy service options for Fresno residents, including Community Choice Energy.
At this meeting, we will learn about Community Choice Energy, a not-for-profit local program that provides electricity service as a choice apart from PG&E electricity service. With Community Choice Energy, PG&E continues to own and operate the poles and wires, but a Community Choice Agency (CCA) in Fresno would be your service for your energy sources, local programs, and about half the rates on your PG&E bill.
There are now 26 Community Choices Agencies in California. Together, they serve roughly 15 million customers with cleaner electricity at competitive — and in many cases lower — rates than the big utilities. Community Choice Agencies have been responsible for more than 11,000 megawatts of new renewable energy development in California, more than four times the energy generated by the state’s largest power plant.
Potential benefits of Community Choice Energy include greater consumer choice, competitive rates, job creation, benefits to the local economy, local control, programs that can be tailored to meet community needs, opportunities for small businesses, and more.
Join us to learn about Community Choice Energy as an option for Fresno residents and businesses. Registration for this event is encouraged but not required — please spread the word!
After signing up, we’ll reach out with ways you can take action and organize in your community to make climate solutions a reality.
