Slides and Other Resources:

Description

This webinar, co-hosted by Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (Fresno EOC) and The Climate Center, about local weatherization and energy efficiency efforts and Community Choice Energy, the not-for-profit local electricity service option for over 11 million Californians. Fresno is in the process of evaluating this program for its residents and businesses.

Founded in 1965, Fresno EOC has spent over five decades investing in people, helping them out of poverty and towards self-sufficiency. Fresno EOC’s scope of service consists of almost all facets of human services and economic development. The Energy Services program provides low income families in Fresno with no cost installation of energy conservation measures and energy education to reduce energy costs while improving energy efficiency and ensuring health and safety. Through a Transformative Climate Communities Grant the program also offers free solar panels to eligible households in southwest Fresno.

The Climate Center, a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 that works on statewide policy, has a mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the scale required by the science, starting in California. The Climate Center will discuss how Community Choice might benefit Fresno.

Also on hand will be JR Killigrew, Director of Communications and Energy Programs at Monterey Bay Community Power, an operational Community Choice agency, to share what they have done recently in their community to respond to the covid crisis.
