MEDIA ADVISORY: Meet with lawmakers, activists, and scientists at the California Climate Policy Summit 2023

SACRAMENTO — The second annual California Climate Policy Summit, hosted by The Climate Center on April 11, 2023, will bring together elected and business leaders, policy experts, activists, and environmental justice advocates to build support for climate policy commensurate with what science demands. 

What: Our preliminary agenda includes presentations by scientists, lawmakers, and activists, as well as in-depth breakout sessions focused on oil and gas extraction, sustainable mobility, natural carbon sequestration, grid reliability, electric vehicles, and climate impacts on public health. The Summit will focus on key climate bills before the California legislature this session, including bills related to energy resilience, fossil fuel divestment, accelerated climate targets, and more. Speakers will be available for interviews during breaks throughout the day.

Who: Speakers include Nalleli Cobo, Goldman Prize winner and founder of People Not Pozos; Senator Lena A. Gonzalez, 33rd District; Siva Gunda, Vice Chair of the California Energy Commission; Amanda Hansen, Deputy Secretary for Climate Change at the California Natural Resources Agency; Dr. Dan Kammen, Distinguished Professor of Sustainability at UC Berkeley; Anthony Myint, Executive Director of Zero Foodprint; Lauren Sanchez, Senior Climate Advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom; and Senator Henry Stern, 27th District.
