Webinar: Community Choice Energy in Stockton

This webinar was co-hosted by Rise Stockton and The Climate Center, where the opportunities and challenges of Community Choice Energy, also known as “CCA” for Stockton will be discussed. The City of Stockton is in the process of evaluating Community Choice Energy, which is a local, not-for-profit local electricity service provider run by your own local leaders. There are now 21 CCAs in California serving over 10 million customers.

– Rise Stockton works to prioritize development and infrastructure projects that achieve major environmental, health, and economic benefits in Stockton’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods.
– The Climate Center’s mission is to deliver rapid greenhouse gas reductions at scale, starting in California.

Dan Wright

Councilmember, City of Stockton

Dan Wright has been a resident of Stockton since 1993 and Council District 2 since 1999. Prior to moving to Stockton, he lived and worked in southern California, Texas, Central America, and Wisconsin. Wright and his wife, Grace, have been married for over 30 years and have two children. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Master of Arts from California State University, Los Angeles. In addition, he completed an administrative credential and doctoral coursework at the University of the Pacific. Wright was also the Acting Superintendent for Stockton Unified School District and served as the Assistant Superintendent and Director. He has been a member of the steering committee for the Read to Me, Stockton early literacy initiative since it began in 2011.

Jasmine Leek

Founder and Managing Director, Third City Coalition

Jasmine Leek is an interdisciplinary community designer from Stockton, CA. With ten years of professional experience in various leadership roles spanning multiple sectors, Jasmine has a bold entrepreneurial spirit that drives her to invest time supporting community and economic development activities in Stockton. Jasmine’s previous roles in the public, private, and philanthropic sector have prepared her to serve as Founder and Managing Director of Third City Coalition since 2016. Over the last five years, Jasmine has collaborated with public agencies, nonprofits, and business leaders to build hundreds of strategic relationships and bring large-scale investment to the region.

Don Bray

Director of Account Services and Community Relations, Silicon Valley Clean Energy

Don has worked closely with SVCE since its inception, leading customer engagement activities with SVCE’s major commercial and industrial accounts, and the local business community. He is responsible for account services, customer program development and integration. Immediately prior to joining SVCE, Don served as Executive Director of Joint Venture Silicon Valley’s Smart Energy Enterprise Development Initiative (SEEDZ), involving a regional coalition of leading business, governmental, institutional and utility stakeholders focused on advancing energy system performance and sustainability in Silicon Valley. Projects included workplace and destination electric vehicle charging infrastructure, regional power quality monitoring, distributed energy storage and community-based renewable energy programs.
