Tell California’s leaders to stand up for climate action

What we do in California to address the climate crisis has a ripple effect across the world. With a climate-denying, pro-oil president waging war on federal climate action, California’s climate leadership is more important than ever.

The new administration is attacking federal climate progress at every level. On his first day in office, the new president withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and announced his plans to “drill baby drill” even though the United States is already the single-largest producer of oil and gas in the history of the world. He vowed to increase reliance on polluting fossil fuels, halt offshore wind, freeze remaining funding for climate programs from the Inflation Reduction Act, and revoke electric vehicle incentives.

Our elected officials in California — led by Governor Newsom, Senate President pro tempore Mike McGuire, and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas — have already sprung into action to defend California’s climate progress from the new administration’ attacks. But we need more than defense to prevent deadly, climate-fueled heat waves, wildfires, floods, and droughts.

To save lives and inspire the world to greater climate action, California will need to once again raise its climate ambitions.

Please join us in urging Governor Newsom and state leaders to take on Big Oil, support local clean energy, and invest in natural climate solutions today!
