Facing a multi-billion-dollar budget deficit, California walked back critical investments in a climate-safe future. The best pathway we have to protecting climate resilience programs across the state is to introduce a robust, equitable climate bond on November’s ballot.
We must act at the speed and scale the climate crisis demands, which means that we cannot let state leaders cut essential funding for life-saving climate programs, even in a deficit. A climate bond will provide stable funding to ensure clean air and water for all and investment in nature-based climate solutions. Climate disasters aren’t letting up, so we can’t either.
Thanks to your advocacy, the legislature has voted to put a climate bond on November’s ballot! 1,173 members of The Climate Center community wrote to their representatives in support, and many more made phone calls and showed up in person. Californians will vote on November 5 for the future of climate programs that protect not only our most vulnerable communities today, but those for generations to come.
