Tell your state reps: Don’t turn your back on displaced oil and gas workers

Last year, Governor Newsom set aside $40 million to in a fund to support displaced oil and gas workers and an additional $20 million for a pilot program to train displaced oil and gas workers in Kern and Los Angeles counties for abandoned oil well abatement.

Facing a projected $31.5 billion deficit this year, the governor’s proposed 2023-2024 budget includes no additional funding for these programs. The legislature will vote on the final budget by June 15, meaning we have just a few weeks to speak up in solidarity with workers transitioning out of fossil fuels and into the clean energy economy!

Urge your State Senator and Assemblymember to invest in a just transition for workers and communities. Use the form below and urge them restore the $40 million in funding to support displaced oil and gas workers!
