Youth Advisory Board

The Youth Advisory Board engages students in the larger community. The board helps inform the program, organizes community events, speaks out at local political and community venues, and provides a youth perspective to the larger community of climate activists.

Meet the Youth Advisory Board

Samantha Perry, Maria Carrillo High School
Samantha Perry began her work with ECO2school in the spring of 2013 when Maria Carrillo High School participated in the ECO2school Challenge, led by the Eco Club, of which she is the president. She went onto have an internship at The Climate Center, where she helped to create an award-winning promotional video for ECO2school. She also spoke at the National Safe Routes to School Conference and the Youth for the Environment and Sustainability Conference. Samantha is the captain of her cross country and track teams, and she plays the violin and sings in her school’s choir. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend a 4-year university to study a concentration of biology.

MacKenzie Keith, Montgomery High School
MacKenzie began her work with ECO2school in the Summer of 2014. She is the Publicity Director of her school’s Green Team, and manages her club’s advertising campaigns as well as announcing Green Team’s morning announcements. MacKenzie is also a member of The Dance Center’s Senior Jazz Company where she performs in shows and regional competitions. She enjoys walking her chihuahua puppy, traveling, and spending time with friends. In the future she hopes to attend college, get a job in marketing, and continue dancing her way through life.

David Eik, Maria Carrillo High School
David Eik began working with ECO2school in his sophomore year as a student facilitator for the ECO2school challenge. A leading member of Maria Carrillo’s Eco Club, he joined the Youth Advisory Board in his junior year so he could get more involved with the fight against climate change. Outside of school, David runs both Cross Country and Track and enjoys hiking with his friends in his free time. David hopes to attend a University to study biology and continue pursuing his passion for running and environmental sustainability.

Izzi Rader, Windsor High School
Izzi Rader began working with ECO2school during her Freshman year of high school as part of Healdsburg High School’s Progressive Club. Over the years she has continuosly volunteered with The Climate Center’s ECO2school program and is currently an intern for the organization. Her passion for protecting the environment has lead her to reinstate the Eco Club at Windsor High School, of which she is currently president. During the spring, Izzi enjoys being part of the Badminton team. In the future Izzi hopes to continue her passion of photography as well as be an educator.

Quianna Stodder, Analy High School
Quiana Stodder began her work with ECO2school in the fall of 2014. She helped to create the Bike Club at Analy High School for the promotion of alternative transportation. At her school, she is also involved with both the tennis and track teams. In her free time, Quiana volunteers at the Sebastopol Community Garden and enjoys spending time in nature, biking, and spending time with friends and family. This school year, Quiana hopes to set the girls pole vault record at Analy High School. In the more distant future, Quiana intends to attend a four-year college where she will major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Environmental Science.

Jack Brunson, Montgomery High School
Jack Brunson began his work with ECO2school during the early 2014 school year. Jack is currently the vice president of his schools green team, and enjoys running in both cross country and track. When not running, Jack enjoys mountain biking and making trips to the beach. He hopes to soon attend a four-year university to study economics.

Maria Casciani, Montgomery High School
Maria Casciani began her work with ECO2school the spring of her sophomore year. She became president of the Green Team at Montgomery High School her junior year, and worked closely with ECO2school that spring to create the Green Teen Gathering. Green Teen, which is now established as an annual event, brings Sonoma County high school students together to share innovative ideas about how to create a better more sustainable future. When Maria is not bussy advocating for the planet, she also enjoys playing tennis for Montgomery’s varsity team, sewing, and loves spending time with friends. In the future she hopes to attend a four-year university studying environmental science and stay very engaged as an environmental activist.
