SB 867 / Prop 4 (Allen, et al) Climate resilience bond

This bill would enact the Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024 (also known as Prop 4). If approved by voters in the November 2024 election — on the ballot as Prop 4 — the bill will authorize the issuance of bonds in the amount of $10 billion pursuant to the State General Obligation Bond Law to finance projects for: 

  • Safe drinking water
  • Drought, flood, and water resilience
  • Wildfire and forest resilience
  • Coastal resilience
  • Extreme heat mitigation
  • Biodiversity and nature-based climate solutions
  • climate-smart, sustainable, and resilient farms, ranches, and working lands
  • Park creation and outdoor access
  • Clean air programs

Status: (Updated 7/3/24) The California legislature voted to approve SB 867 and the Climate Resilience bond will be on the ballot as Prop 4 in November 2024.
