Business Network Breakfast with Senate Majority Leader Mike McGuire

The Climate Center’s Business Network gathered for a networking event at SOMO Village’s beautiful new coworking space in Rohnert Park.

California State Senate Majority Leader Mike McGuire highlighted some of the bills currently working their way through the legislature to advance our climate goals, including bills to speed up the availability of bidirectional EV charging, smooth the path for deployment of offshore wind energy in California, and better protect us during wildfires. Business Network members discussed how we can move forward to build a climate-safe future while ensuring green businesses will grow. The Climate Center CEO Ellie Cohen gave an update on our many achievements in the past year.

Mike is a lifelong Californian. His family farmed the Golden State’s rich soils for decades and he was raised by two incredibly strong women, his mom and grandma. Mike and his mom struggled growing up. He’s been working full-time since he was 16, helping put himself through college. Mike was named Senate Majority Leader in 2022. He’s been a champion for our kids and public schools. He went to the mat and won against President Trump on offshore oil drilling, led the charge in the legislature on wildfires, and is a leading voice in holding PG&E accountable.
