Shea Hughes, Scale Microgrid Solutions
Shea Hughes is the Director of Business Development at Scale Microgrid Solutions, where he has led the company’s expansion into the California market. At Scale Shea has forged partnerships for the company across the public and private sectors launched the company’s flagship modular microgrid product and built a robust pipeline of microgrid projects. Prior to Scale, Shea was with Tesla and EDF backed Zola Electric, where he led new product introductions and launched new markets across sub-Saharan Africa. He earned an M.S. in Energy Systems from Stanford University and a B.S. from the University of Miami in his home state of Florida.
Catherine Von Burg, SimpliPhi Power
Catherine Von Burg is the Founder & CEO of SimpliPhi Power, a technology company that designs and manufactures efficient cobalt-free energy storage solutions. Under Catherine’s leadership, SimpliPhi has deployed tens of thousands of batteries and integrated systems in over 40 countries for use in residential, commercial, military, emergency response and humanitarian applications globally. Catherine serves on the Board of Directors for California Solar & Storage Association and is an advisory board member of Alegria Farmacy, a company that builds solar-powered regenerative microfarms, and the Footprint Project, an organization that focuses on delivering clean energy systems in disasters. Catherine graduated from Columbia University in New York and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy.
Chris Ball, Bloom Energy
Chris Ball is a Product Marketing Lead with Bloom Energy, focused on microgrids and sustainability. Chris works closely with both product management and sales teams to increase customer value and is intimately involved in identifying and meeting customer needs and requirements. Earlier in his career, he developed commercial and utility-scale solar projects. Chris holds a BSBA from Georgetown University. June 24th, 11 am – 12:30 pm
Carolyn Glanton, Sonoma Clean Power
As Program Manager at Sonoma Clean Power, Carolyn Glanton is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of energy storage programs. Carolyn has previously worked at the Sonoma County Regional Climate Protection Authority and Sonoma Water. She is passionate about the natural and built environment and has experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate action planning, and resiliency. Carolyn is a graduate of Sonoma State University where she completed a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies & Planning with an emphasis in Energy Management & Design.
Kurt Johnson, The Climate Center
The Climate Center’s Advanced Community Energy Director previously founded a hydropower trade association where he lobbied successfully for regulatory reform before Congress and the Colorado legislature. Kurt also worked for Recurrent Energy in solar, for the California Public Utilities Commission, and at the U.S. EPA where he founded the Green Power Partnership. Kurt started his career in 1991 working on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC as a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Rep. Richard Swett (D-NH). Kurt holds an MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Johns Hopkins University and an MA and BA from Stanford University.
