Alan Strachan, an advisor to the Campaign, responded with a letter to the editor. Strachan points out that “The Metropolitan Transportation Commission recently chose to fund a collaboration between the Sonoma County Transportation Authority and the Climate Protection Campaign to launch a ridesharing pilot project in Sonoma County” using social networking and smart phone technology. This program aims to reduce the principal barriers to ridesharing, safety concerns, convenience and also provides an economic incentive to drivers.
