I’ve always been passionate about helping others — whether it’s supporting a friend or family member, volunteering with youth, or stepping up in my studies. But I’ve always felt the urge to do more, to make a broader impact. That’s where policy comes in. It’s a powerful tool for creating meaningful change, ensuring that laws and the stories we tell about our state can shape a future that’s both impactful and positive.
The climate crisis is at the heart of my journey to The Climate Center. In high school, I took AP Environmental Science, which sparked my deep interest in addressing the devastating impacts of the climate emergency. I then went on to study psychology with the intention of becoming a therapist to help people directly. However, after completing my degree, I realized that wasn’t the path meant for me. I studied economics, where I encountered a policy professor who introduced me to the world of energy policy. This became a pivotal moment in my journey. I then pursued a legislative internship with the Hawaii Solar Energy Association, where I gained invaluable insight into the intricacies of energy policy in Hawaii.
My journey took a turn when the pandemic hit, but that did not stop me from working in a climate-friendly business. I had the opportunity to get on-the-ground experience working at a local solar company, Alternate Energy Inc., helping folks with their solar needs. After about a year, I moved to California, continued my policy path, and worked as a Policy Analyst for Reimagine Power. There, I gained invaluable experience, honed my communication skills, and deepened my understanding of California energy policy — knowledge that will be crucial, as energy policy is a core pillar of The Climate Center’s efforts to protect our planet, ensure clean air, and secure a climate-safe future for all.
Working for The Climate Center is a true manifestation of my aspirations. Living in Sacramento, right at the heart of it all, I’m excited to expand my climate-safe expertise, collaborate with this amazing team, and connect with a diverse group of climate champions. California is a clear leader in the fight against the climate crisis and I’m grateful to be part of such an impactful organization.
