Courtenay Washowitz

Southern California Director of Development

Courtenay Washowitz joined The Climate Center in 2024 as the Southern California Director of Development. In this role, she develops and implements strategies to build financial support for The Climate Center’s work.

Prior to The Climate Center, Courtenay served as the Director of Development, Fundraising, and Strategic Partnerships for both Environment America and the Public Interest Research Group (PIRG). With extensive experience in leadership roles across multiple sectors, Courtenay has held positions such as Strategic Consultant at INTERMIX, Senior Director at Ralph Lauren and Gilt Groupe, and Corporate Attorney at prominent law firms.

Courtenay holds a JD from Columbia Law School and a BS in Economics from Duke University, along with a Certificate of Sustainability from UCLA. She currently lives in Pacific Palisades, California where you can often find her enjoying the beach, playing basketball with her kids or hiking Will Rogers State Park with her dogs.
