Bernadette Del Chiaro heads up the California operations of the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a national nonprofit public health and environmental organization. Prior she served as the executive director of the California Solar & Storage Association from 2013 to 2025. There, she built the California Solar & Storage Association into one of the largest and most active clean energy business groups in the United States. Ms. Del Chiaro has over thirty years of experience working for a cleaner and healthier environment including twelve years with Environment California and six years with the Toxics Action Center in New England. Bernadette is a leading voice for clean energy having played a pivotal role in expanding rooftop solar, energy storage, solar hot water, and other forms of consumer-centered energy solutions. She’s authored several reports and has been quoted widely in the media, including MSNBC, NPR, BBC, New York Times, and Los Angeles Times. Del Chiaro, a Northern California native, holds a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She lives in Sacramento.
