Business Network Event: Climate Progress Against the Odds

The Climate Center’s Business Network will host an in-person gathering to discuss climate policies before the state legislature this year. We will also talk about the recent California Air Resources Board proposal to weaken the state’s Cap and Invest program, the legislature’s response, and what it all means for you and your business. 

The Climate Center’s Chief Program Officer Barry Vesser will interview Assemblymember Chris Rogers about these topics and give a short update on our top policy priorities this year. There will be plenty of time for Q&A and networking with your peers. A continental breakfast will be served.

Assemblymember Chris Rogers

California State Assembly

Assemblymember Chris Rogers serves California’s 2nd Assembly District, which encompasses Eureka, Arcata, and Santa Rosa. Before joining the State Assembly, Chris made a significant impact as a Santa Rosa City Councilmember and Mayor, where he led efforts in wildfire recovery, housing affordability, and environmental sustainability. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Chris has been instrumental in securing resources to support small businesses and protect vulnerable communities during challenging times.

Barry Vesser

Chief Program Officer

Barry joined The Climate Center in 2005 and has held positions as Deputy Director and Financial Officer. He currently leads The Climate Center’s program and policy development and implementation teams. In 2018 Barry began working with a group of energy experts and advocates envisioning a more decentralized energy system that was clean, affordable, resilient, and equitable. He then championed the development of The Climate Center’s Community Energy Resilience project, which has culminated in the creation of a new $170 million Community Energy Resilience investment program by the California Energy Commission in August of 2022.
