California has led the nation in electric school bus adoption, now home to nearly one-quarter of all electric school buses nationwide. However, without a unified strategy, California could miss opportunities to leverage these buses as grid resources to enhance the affordability, resilience, and reliability of the state’s electrical grid.
This meeting opened with presentations on the status of bidirectional electric school buses in California, followed by a facilitated group brainstorm session to identify additional administrative, legislative, and regulatory policy reforms needed to effectively harness the currently-untapped energy storage capacity of California’s electric school bus fleet.
This event was hosted in partnership with Vehicle-Grid Integration Council, World Resources Institute Electric School Bus Initiative, Nuvve/Fermata, and others, and held in conjunction with EVolve, the annual event hosted by the Vehicle-Grid Integration Council.
