From April 11-22, The Climate Center’s ECO2school program supported Sonoma County high schools in the annual “ECO2school Challenge.” The Challenge encourages students to make eco-friendly choices about how they get to school: biking, walking, or carpooling. During the Challenge, ECO2school leaders at each school host activities to engage their peers and increase participation. Favorite activities include the pedal-powered bicycle blender (complete with free smoothies) and “slow races,” in which students race each other on bicycles to see who can go the slowest. This year’s Challenge has already engaged a record number of students – changing their habits and having fun in the process! Stay tuned for our report on the quantity of emissions that these motivated Sonoma County students saved from entering the atmosphere. Enjoy a slideshow, below.
