Call to Action from Redwood Hill Farm

January 15, 2015

Letter to the Editor by Jennifer Bice, CEO/President, Redwood Hill Farm & Creamer

Join me in reducing greenhouse gas emissions

As a long-time business owner and community member I am proud of Sonoma County’s recent recognition from the White House as one of 16 Climate Champions in the country. Again, our county has proven to be at the cutting edge of sustainability efforts, and I credit The Climate Center’s vision and ongoing work to make Sonoma County such an inspiring example.

I remember speaking with Ann Hancock, Founder of The Climate Center, years ago when Sonoma Clean Power was just a vision. Ann and her team organized businesses, government, and the community to build support for Sonoma Clean Power, which is a major tool for the County to achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% in 2015. Today, Redwood Hill Farm & Creamery is a loyal customer enjoying the benefits of cleaner and cheaper energy.

Early results show that Sonoma Clean Power saves money and will be the single biggest means of reducing Sonoma County’s emissions. As a founding member of Business for Clean Energy, a program of The Climate Center, I invite other businesses to join us in building and accelerating Sonoma County’s climate leadership.
