Alex Turek

Alex leads GRID GLA’s grant development and commercial solar program. Under Alex’s guidance, GLA has been awarded several large multi-million dollar government grants, including the Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities implementation grants (four total) and planning grants (two total); the California Energy Commission’s Advanced Energy Communities grant, The Next EPIC Challenge: Reimagining Affordable Mixed-Use Development in a Carbon-Constrained Future and the Reliable, Equitable and Accessible Charging for Multifamily Housing (REACH) grant; among others. All of these efforts are dedicated to installing solar, battery storage, electric vehicle supply equipment, and other emerging clean energy technologies for the benefit of vulnerable populations and underserved communities. For GRID GLA’s growing commercial solar program, Alex leads project development through partnerships with affordable housing operators and other nonprofits. This includes several projects over 100 kW, as well as resilience center projects that utilize solar and battery storage to provide power backup when the grid goes down.

Rajinder Sahota

Rajinder Sahota was appointed as the Deputy Executive Officer for Climate Change and Research in spring of 2021. She is responsible for directing CARB’s scientific, technical, and policy teams as they develop and update the AB 32 Climate Change Scoping Plan to track progress and develop the pathways to achieve the state’s climate targets. She also oversees the economy-wide Cap-and-Trade Program, Low Carbon Fuels Standards, energy and climate policy, fuels programs, and critical research to advance action to improve public health and environmental protection.

Susana De Anda

Susana De Anda is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Community Water Center. Susana is a seasoned community organizer and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including: James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award (2018); White House Champion of Change for Climate Equity (2016); Mark Dubois Award from Friends of the River (2014); “150 Fearless Women in the World” by Newsweek Magazine (2012); “Women on Top – Top Activist” by Marie Claire magazine (2012); AOL sponsored PBS three-part series titled, Makers: Women Who Have Shaped America (2012); and “Las Fabulosas” and “Inspiring Latinas” by Powerful Latinas (2011); and the 2009 Petra Foundation Fellowship award. In addition, Jill Iscol’s book, Hearts on Fire, features a chapter on Susana De Anda and CWC (2011).

Felicia Marcus

Felicia Marcus is the William C. Landreth Visiting Fellow at Stanford University’s Water in the West Program, an attorney, consultant and member of the Water Policy Group. She most recently served as chair of the California State Water Resources Control Board, implementing laws regarding drinking water and water quality and state’s water rights, hearing regional board water quality appeals, settling disputes and providing financial assistance to communities to upgrade water infrastructure.

Jason Pfeifle

Jason (he/him) works with the Climate Law Institute to fight pollution from oil and gas extraction. Prior to joining the Center, he led CALPIRG’s advocacy and policy work on public health issues like getting lead out of school drinking water and stopping antibiotic overuse on factory farms. He holds a doctorate in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Bahram Fazeli

For the past 18 years at Communities for a Better Environment (CBE), Bahram has managed a number of research, policy, and planning projects and has worked closely with CBE community members, organizers and attorneys to provide technical assistance for various campaigns. Bahram has served on different advisory groups including those at the US EPA and various California regulatory agencies, and he has been recognized for his contributions to environmental health and justice policies including an award from the American Planning Association for his work on the precedent-setting Clean Up Green Up Ordinance in the City of Los Angeles.
